Raíces & Mujer Agave: Building Community

This incredibly special event, presented in partnership with Tooleys Cafe is a series of special sessions designed to share information and create connections between interested consumers, early or mid-career agave and agave spirits professionals, and leaders in the field. Mezcalistas, Agave spirits consultant Misty Kalkofen, and the Mujer Agave Project have assembled a slate of morning and afternoon programming around topics ranging from the environmental impact of agave spirits production, to women in the agave industry to media’s role in agave spirits, and more.

The morning session (10 - 1 pm), coordinated by Mezcalistas and Misty Kalkofen, will begin with a welcome session for introductions and getting to know one another. It will be followed by a series of breakout discussions covering a variety of topics, and led by the featured specialists. The breakout discussions will have three 45-minute sessions, to allow attendees the option of moving to a different discussion topic.

The afternoon session (1 -5 pm), will be conducted by Mujer Agave, founded by mezcal icons Silvia Philion, Sandra Ortiz-Brena, and Graciela Angeles Carreño, it is a collective of women in the agave spirits industry where unity, legacy, and joy are taught through diverse conferences and experiences. It’s geared toward empowering and connecting female stakeholders in the agave industry across disciplines. Based on the popularity of the 2023 event, it has expanded to an afternoon-long event featuring a series of discussions with these icons of the mezcal industry. A tasting is included with this session.
